Introduction
The University of Port Harcourt (Nigeria), and the IFP School (France) have associated their experiences in Research and Teaching in the field of petroleum engineering (reservoir characterisation and reservoir engineering, drilling, oil and gas production, and field management) to jointly award a Master's Degree in Petroleum Engineering and Project Development.
Institute of Petroleum and Energy Studies (IPES) is an international post-graduate institution established between UNIPORT and IFP School. The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) and Total E&P Nigeria Limited (TEPNG) are the main sponsors of this petroleum engineering programme.
The oil and gas industry is greatly interested in competence and integrated know-how of technology and management of petroleum reservoirs, to ensure a more efficient recovery. For this reason, oil companies, service companies, and governmental bodies are looking for professionals able to join multidisciplinary teams in today’s highly technical environment.
The Master's Degree programme will prepare engineers (newly graduated or with a few years of industrial experience) for teamwork in oil and gas field development and management.
By associating Nigerian and French cultures, the programme also prepares the students to work in international teams, as required now by the oil and gas industry.
Nigeria, as a major player in the international oil and gas industry and in particular in the Gulf of Guinea, will benefit from this multidisciplinary programme and the high technical competence of our graduates.
- Career openings :
On completion of the Reservoir Engineering, Drilling, Production, and Project Development Modules, participants are expected to be:
Highly competitive for positions in the upstream oil and gas industry (international operators, national companies, service companies, or governmental bodies)
Prepared for work in reservoir appraisal, drilling and production optimisation and field development projects in an international context.
